Accomplishments

The Traditional Cowboy Arts Association is a group of renowned craftsmen that was incorporated in 1998 and granted 501(c)3 tax status in 1999. Representatives of the Museum and the TCAA met in the summer of 1998 to begin planning the inaugural exhibition and sale, which opened to the public September, 1999. Initially supported by the Museum's Board members and a handful of avid collectors, the TCAA show has since grown to include four-day, professional-level workshops in February and September, a Friday evening patron's preview, an educational seminar on Saturday followed by the exciting opening night sale and banquet. The myriad of accomplishments that have accrued from this partnership of the Traditional Cowboy Arts Association and the National Cowboy & Western Heritage Musuem include:

  • 62 Craftsmen have received cash scholarships to help further training and education.
  • $31,000 is the amount paid to participants in this program to date.
  • 137 craftsmen have been personally mentored in various TCAA members shops and studios
  • 178 craftspeople have attended TCAA workshops hosted by National Cowboy Museum
  • 30 speakers participated in TCAA seminars to perform free lectures on various apsects of craftmanship and cowboy culture.
  • 343 one of a kind pieces have been created by TCAA members for the annual show and sale. These are the only works that are allowed to carry the TCAA registered trade mark.
  • 525 is the number of years experience represented by TCAA members.
  • 19 active members of the TCAA include ten elected and nine founding members; an important milestone reached in 2007.
